Weighted blankets reduce cortisol levels which are counterproductive to melatonin production, therefore, allowing for better sleep. The grounding effect of a weighted blanket triggers the release of serotonin and dopamine which calms the nervous system. The weight of the blanket should be 5% to10% of the user's body weight.
How it is Made
Weighted blankets are made from four layers of natural cotton fabric which allows the skin to breathe. The first two layers are filled with evenly distributed polypropylene beads according to customer weight and sewn into small pockets so there is minimal bead shifting that takes place. A layer of 80/20 cotton/polyester batting is added to the bottom of this layer for comfort. The top layers are then sewn into the top and bottom to form the blanket. Binding is applied and hand stitched
